I have been reading the local Tampa blogs for a couple of years now, commenting now and again. I thought I'd try something I haven't seen before. All too often I have witnessed some very good discussions derail because of an Asshole. I am not referring to your average "troll" as those are just "trolls." The Internet is crawling with them, and they are just part of life here. No, these are Assholes, usually people that are otherwise normal, but feel like, because they are on the Internet, they are somehow excluded from the rules of normal discourse and courtesy. This idea came to me very recently and is still in the neophyte phase. With time and nurturing it might grow into something a bit more useful. Of course the whole thing might turn into a total train-wreck too. Only time will tell.

This is intended to be mostly(but maybe not always) tongue-in-cheek. In hindsight, nearly every time I have been called an Asshole, I found was being one. So, odds are, if you find yourself here, there's probably some reason for it. For those of you who forgot your sense of humor, you may rent one from the place around the corner.
